The common sun lounger often falls short in providing a comfortable experience for individuals of different shapes and sizes. Christoph Guenther recognized this challenge and set out to create a sun lounger that adapts to the user, rather than the other way around. The result is Sinus, a design made from diverse local wood and lightweight aluminum hinges.
What sets Sinus apart is its ability to accommodate an unlimited number of individualized lying positions. Unlike traditional sun loungers, the adjustment mechanism is relocated to the ends of the lounger, eliminating the need for a snapping raster and operating with tension rather than compression. Inspired by a neck pillow or a massage table, Sinus features a smooth-shaped wooden ring for resting your head.
The construction of Sinus involves a wavy carrying frame made up of several rods symmetrically connected. The lying surface consists of four parts connected by spring-loaded joints, which can be fixed to stiffen the frame. To achieve diverse lying positions, a wrapped rope ensures stability in tension, while four rails prevent rotating and twisting of the lying frame.
Measuring 2088mm in length, 660mm in width, and 360mm in height, Sinus is designed with both comfort and practicality in mind. The lying grille and base can be disconnected for easy transportation, making it a versatile choice for outdoor relaxation.
Operating Sinus is a breeze, as it offers a completely new way of adjusting the lying position. The focus is on tension, allowing users to modify their position continuously without any pre-adjustments. The framework of the lounger provides a stable base on various terrains and includes a placement area for personal belongings.
The Sinus project began in June 2016 in Berlin, Germany. The design concept stemmed from the realization that traditional sun loungers do not cater to the diverse shapes and sizes of individuals. Extensive research was conducted to challenge conventional procedures and create a new way of operation. The result is Sinus, a sun lounger that offers infinite possibilities for relaxation.
Sinus has garnered recognition for its innovative design. In 2019, it was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category. This prestigious award is given to designs that are well-designed, practical, and innovative, meeting professional and industrial requirements. Sinus stands out for its integration of industry best practices, competent technical characteristics, and contribution to a better world.
Experience the ultimate in personalized comfort with Sinus, the sun lounger that fits you perfectly.
